The Trails map: four arcs, one continent

Four countries, four casts, one unbroken timeline.

Zemuria's story is told in arcs, each anchored to one nation and one party, each beginning shortly after the last ends. The Liberl arc (Septian calendar 1202–1203) follows bracers-in-training Estelle and Joshua Bright across a small kingdom still recovering from a war. The Crossbell arc (1204) moves to a city-state crushed between two empires and follows a rookie police unit, the Special Support Section. The Erebonia arc (1204–1206) runs concurrently with Crossbell inside the empire itself, through the students of Thors Military Academy, the two arcs interlock, sharing events seen from opposite sides of a border. The Calvard arc (1208–1209) opens the series' second half in the eastern republic, with a fixer-for-hire, Van Arkride.

Between and beneath the arcs sits the connective tissue: the Bracer Guild, the Septian Church, the jaeger corps, and Ouroboros, whose long game every arc keeps uncovering one layer deeper. Characters age, marry, change sides and reappear a decade of games later in different countries, which is why the arcs are chapters of one novel rather than a sequence of sequels.
