The Dreamcast RPG Gallery

Three games, three kinds of afterlife: the beloved one nobody bought, the perfected one other platforms kept breaking, and the one whose players refused to let it close.

The Dreamcast lived fast, and its traditional RPG shelf is small enough to hang in one room and strong enough to deserve it. Skies of Arcadia reviewed at 93 and sold at a whisper. Grandia II brought the Saturn's great hope across with a battle system critics called the most advanced in play. Phantasy Star Online put a console RPG on the internet years early and is still, through fan servers, not entirely over. Three sections, three histories, one flagship question.

Every cover below is a door to its game's history. The scans are shown at the size sourced from the MobyGames archive (the 440px class); nothing is upscaled or invented. Where an edition carried a notable disc inside the box, the disc hangs beside the covers, because for these games the pack ins are part of the artifact.
