The Lunar Gallery

Two stories, told for thirty years: every Lunar, in order.

Lunar is the smallest major RPG series of its era: two adventures, The Silver Star (1992) and Eternal Blue (1994), a pair of school stories, and three decades of remakes that carried those two tales from Mega-CD to the present day. Two thirds of everything below is a new telling of one of those two journeys, which is not a weakness in the series. It is the series: a story its makers and its players refused to let go of.

Covers shown are the North American releases; where no verified cover exists in the archive, the entry stands in text, as the record allows.

Silver Star Story Complete
Saturn 1996 (JP) · PlayStation 1998 (JP) / May 1999 (NA). A ground-up remake: fifty minutes of Gonzo animation, a rewritten Ghaleon, and the Working Designs collector's edition that defined deluxe in the West.
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete
Saturn July 23, 1998 (JP) · PlayStation 1999 (JP) / December 2000 (NA). The remake trims the original's sixty-odd sequences to about thirty-five longer ones, redraws every monster, and reaches North America in a box with a pendant, standees, and a cloth map.
Silver Star Story (Saturn)
The remake began in Japan on Saturn, October 25, 1996: quarter-screen movies until the July 1997 MPEG edition used Sega's video card to play them full-screen. Neither Saturn version left Japan.
